Be Like the Bird

My aunt gave me a book of children's poetry and in it I found a lovely piece by Victor Hugo.

Be like the bird, who
Halting in his flight
On limb too slight
Feels it give way beneath him,
Yet sings,
Knowing he hath wings.

  1. Lovely poem, Emily... perhaps I even know the Aunt? I will try to take pics to post of the little hummingbirds outside my window. They love the spring blossoms on the bush just outside ... juniper, I think. The blossoms are so tiny, nearly invisible. The little florescent hoverers seem to float, and yes, knowing they have wings ... they remain confident and focused on the task.

  3. I wonder what those little beauties think now with the 4-6 inches of snow on those limbs! He is probably singing, "why did I wing my way home to Minnesota so soon?" The poor Robins, Spring May yet come, and I emphasis the word May...
